Life is easy by Benny Zadik
Life is easy. One day, with no effort on your part, you wake up in the arms of your mother and father. One-third of the time you spend sleeping. Another third you spend making plans for the weekend. That leaves only a little time that you actually have to do anything.
Life is easy. There are signs helping you everywhere you go: SLOW, STOP, CAUTION, WARNING, DANGER, EMERGENCY EXIT. How could you possibly run into trouble?
Life is easy. If you’re lost, you can ask for directions. Once you have directions, you can make a map. Then you can help anyone else who might be lost as well. And if you keep walking forwards, eventually you’ll come right back to where you started.
Love is easy. There are over 6 billion people in this world to choose from. You only have to find one. Try kissing. Try hugging. Try having sex on the beach. All of this is very, very easy.
Your job is easy. Your boss needs you. He gives you money to babysit him for 40 hours a week. He buys you lunch sometimes. You get promoted, or else you find a new job. Someone new takes you to lunch. Then you retire. The government sends you money just so that you can stay at home. You have all the time in the world.
Even death is easy. You don’t have to do anything at all, or even schedule an appointment. When the time comes, you sit back, relax, you drift off into a dream. Your breathing slows, your heart eases. You think about what a wonderful life you’ve just had. And how easy it all was.
