these came into work the other day,
bernhard willhelm x mytika
delicious,
stupidly lightweight too.
I'm just gonna cut and paste this, the kettle is boiling:

"New stencils from the elusive street artist Banksy have emerged in Camden, London, specifically in Regent’s Canal. More very clever and politically aimed messages grace the walls around the Canal’s touching on subjects such as global warming."

while ignoring my 2am deadline i stumbled upon some berlin genius
Annette Kelm is her name (taking photos is her game)

wooooo look what i just got in the post, new pants (and shorts) from dress up!
it's love on this cold 4 degree morning!
this calls for an american apparel shoot. she's such genius, thanks miss stephanie!
off to work tozer...

had dinner with eric and two new friends aron and asger at brown the other night.
eric and aron have been working together to produce the first art publication/catalog of carlos valencia. the book was compiled just in time to be shown at art basel in miami. i haven't had a chance to see it yet, however i witnessed all the blood sweat and tears of putting it together, i know it will be genius.
asger is a friend of aron's and a great photographer. he had laryngitis at the time so he didn't say much, however his photos later said it all.

I'm currently working with the american photography collectives MJR and LUCEO, to produce a small-run, large format photography publication.
Working with all 13 documentary photographers, each focusing on a plethora of different subject matter, the curation process has been tricky and nearly painful --there's simply a huge amount of dynamic talent, but only 50 or so pages to present it in!

The presently untitled publication will be released on the evening of the collectives' first joint exhibition, to be held at 25CPW gallery situated just adjacent to Central Park.

Graphic design is being handled by my right-hand NY man, Nicholas LeMessurier.
A wild combination, you bet.

But back to the work. On Thanksgiving, Ying Ang (of MJR) and i set up camp on her living room floor, armed with over 300 images to choose from. Again, I can't express the broad and often contrasting talent bouncing between these two collectives.

It's all still very much a work in progress. But here's a taste of some of the photographers' work. These all hail from MJR.

What i adore about Lula Magazine is its overall thoughtful and deeply feminine approach to curation process. Each issue calls on a guest editor who in turn invites all their favorite people to feature in the publication. What emerges is this really organic flow of ideas and images. Its all very personal you see.
One of my favorite issues was curated by Kirsten Dunst where s
he personally interviewed the likes of Jason Schwartzman, Au Revoir Simone and played dress-up in the wardrobes of Sonia Rykiel, Christian Lacroix and Acne. Another interview profiled a toy-making business, producing wooden toys for young'uns. I think she also had a chat with Beach House. Perhaps i'm mixing up issues --they're all gathering dust back home. You get my driftwood.

But this post is not about Lula, it's about Twin, a new mook from Lula's creative director Rebecca Smith.
Large format, hard-cover --almost like a portfolio of art and fashion.
Yes art and fashion, that old drum, but this one is REAL NICE art and fashion.
Independently published too.
Find it. Love it. Rub it against your face, with the lights off, like i do.

this is the current state of this blog, i know.
in a vain attempt to scramble above the depths of my current financial state, being really shit, i am working absurd hours while toiling with a really exciting side project. but that's a whole other story, or blog post.
in the meantime, all i can offer you --'you' being my mother and the occasional friend who visits this blog page due to my harassment-- are youtube ramblings that i watch at 3am to stay awake, and scraps of pictures.
it will get better, progress reports and photos from abroad.
don't give up on me.
